As a passionate pro-lifer, I really appreciate the message in this story. I actually have started writing a book several times in the past 40 years about a woman faced with a pregnancy from rape. It has been too difficult to write, so I applaud the author for writing this book.The premise is compelling, and the message is clear and strong, but also gentle. I couldn't give this 5 stars, though, because the book needs some more editing. It is bogged down in description and details about every little thing, whether or not it is pertinent to the story. The reader doesn't need to know the color of her coffee every time she pours a cup. Those kinds of excess pulled me out of the story.
The book is a compelling story of how one woman came to faith and changed her position on abortion. Of course, there is a true story of a similar situation from Abby Johnson, but this adds a fictional but powerful element to the debate.

I read this book in one day. It was that good! Tracey not only hits the issue of abortion head on, but also the issue of forgiveness in those tough cases. She created a character some of us could relate to as discovering a new truth to apply to our lives. Excellent job Tracey! I hope we get more novels from you!

This book should be read by all young girls and women when deciding about motherhood. When reading this book you will be challenged about making the right choice for human life. A must read book.
As an author, Ms. Perger creates well-developed characters and situations that are true to life. When reading her work, one is drawn in by the details...character descriptions and environments are clearly written and give the reader enough information to build a solid framework and mental image that anchors her story to its people and places well and quickly draws the reader in.
Ms. Perger's characters are well-thought, unique individuals. The main character in "Alternate Choices" provides a great look into the thoughts and ideas of someone working in an abortion clinic and their interactions with those who are against abortion. She is a multi-faceted character, and the reader gets the enjoyment of experiencing the beliefs, inner struggles, outer battles, and transitions in her life as the story progresses. The cast of additional characters is developed sufficiently enough to enable the reader to understand the family and social structures of the main character, and they lend depth to the story.
As I reached the conclusion of the book, I found myself cheering for the main character throughout the closing chapters, and also experienced a solid sense of closure to the story.
I finished the work in three reading sessions, eagerly returning to its pages as time permitted, and I would have readily enjoyed another 100 pages in this piece!
